To be a successful entrepreneur it takes a willingness to go out of your comfort zone and apply various skills and expertise. Some of these qualities you may have developed over the years as a natural part of who you are like, integrity, persistence, and courage. Others you may have to take the time to learn and apply, as they may not be a natural part of your personality like, leadership role, adaptability, creative thinker, and relationship-builder.
According to Gallup research these are some of the qualities that “drive entrepreneurial success.”
Whether you measure up to these qualities listed in the research or not, there will be challenges along your entrepreneurial journey, and having some quick reminders in the form of quotations, can often be just what you need to get you back on track and serve as a reminder of why you’re on your journey.
Courage: If you lack courage, it’s a skill you can learn. It’s the ability to keep moving forward to achieve a positive outcome when questions or problems arise. The key is to assess where you are. If you think you’re heading in the right direction and the outcome will be positive, ignore the fear and keep moving.
“Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway.” John Wayne
Discipline: There is no success without discipline. Discipline gives you the ability to be on top of things quickly. When problems occur, you’ll be able to deal with them more easily since you’re already aware of what’s going on in your business.
“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” Benjamin Franklin
Determination: You persevere through difficult, even seemingly insurmountable, obstacles.
“Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” Winston Churchill
Relationship-Builder: You have a strong ability to interact and build relationships that are beneficial to you and your business, but also to connect others to each other.
. “A friendship founded on business is a good deal better than a business founded on friendship.” John D. Rockefeller
Risk Now, Reward Later: You can’t be in business without some measure of risk. The bigger the risk now, the greater the reward will be.
“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.” Les Brown
Be Willing to Get Help: It is your business, and you are in charge, but know that many times other people can do some things better that you can. Don’t be intimidated by their talents. Use those talents to free you to do the things you can do better and like to do.
“I’ve been blessed to find people who are smarter than I am, and they help me to execute the vision I have.” Russell Simmons
There is a long list of other qualities that entrepreneurs need to a lesser or greater degree, but I hope these quotes help to give you that gentle pat or quick kick to keep going. What are some qualities you feel are most important to your success?
