Build personal brand? When the term “ brand” is used we often think of medium to large corporations with well-known brands like: Nike, Coco-Cola, Target, Office Max, and so forth. Entrepreneurs or solopreneurs hardly ever think of themselves as a Brand. The reality is that rather than having a corporate brand – You are your brand.
Personal branding is the perception that others have of you, therefore, everything that
you do or say, every post you make on social media, is creating your brand in the minds of your followers, friends, and connections.
As a brand in a crowded marketplace, it’s important that you stand out and get noticed? You need to find ways to get noticed, build your online brand, attract customers and increase your sales. That’s a tall order if you’re a business of one or two persons. How can you do this easily with limited resources of time and money?
Sean Gardner (@2morrowknight) said it well:“Social media is not just an activity; it is an investment of valuable time and resources. Surround yourself with people who not just support you and stay with you, but inform your thinking about ways to WOW your online presence”
Online marketing, and especially social media, can give you that much needed leverage to stay in the game and flourish in the online world. You can use it to build your brand. Entrepreneurs, small business owners, and large corporations are all using social media successfully to increase brand awareness and expose their products and services to a larger market. Social media marketing gives you an affordable way to market your business.
According to Whatis.com, “Social media marketing (SMM) is a form of Internet marketing that utilizes social networking websites as a marketing tool. The goal of SMM is to produce content that users will share with their social network to help a company increase brand exposure and broaden customer reach.” So it involves content, photo and video sharing for the purposes of increasing web traffic, online presence and sales.
